Last weekend I had the recent opportunity to test drive the new HTC One M8 handset. I was very pleased by the weight and the look of the phone. It has a sturdy and comfortable weight to it, and the edges of the phone’s body allows one to have a solid grip on the device. The new M8 is the “shiny” sequel to last year’s original offering. The M8’s smoothly curved back construction, matte finish, and polished edges really gives the smartphone an elevated look and feel of luxury. The display was hands down wonderful. The 5-inch HD screen offers a great option for taking/viewing your photos, text messages and videos. The colors were vibrant enough to really capture the true beauty of whatever your subject is. The Windows 8 software was a little difficult to work with but like anything you use over and over again you will get the hang of it quickly. The HTC One M8 is a love it or hate it phone, sad to say there is no middle area.
I took the HTC One M8 phone with me to run some of my weekend errands and also visit some of my favorite places in NYC.
My first stop of the day was at one of my favorite clothiers to get fitted for a dress shirt, and to check out their new line of handmade bowties and accessories. The quality ready to wear, hand-crafted accessories and Bespoke Clothier, The Standing Room by Heights and Kenchi is one of those places where I always find myself spending more time in there than expected due to the great decor, clothing, conversations and knowledge that is constantly being passed around.

After the fitting I decided snap a few photo before walking over to another city favorite for lunch. The Mudspot Café is a easy-going restaurant that is well-known for their terrific coffee and delicious served-all-day brunch. The location in intimate, so if it is crowded in the front area, just head straight to the back of the restaurant towards their outdoor garden seating area that is perfect during the summer.
Foodie recommendation: Sourdough French Toast almond crusted sourdough, fresh fruit, maple syrup & cinnamon.

Is this phone an “iPhone killer?” Well, that really depends on the person. I do appreciate the elevated look and feel of the HTC One M8, but trying to figure out the Windows 8 software can become a bit frustrating at some points. This phone isn’t going to convince you to go “Team HTC” but I do feel overall this is a solid device that really does hold its own against competitors.
