Gents Tested: Jack Black’s Sun Guard

3014_SunGuard_bWhether you’re tanning on the beach, stuffing your face at a cookout on a Saturday afternoon, or just hustling your way through the streets to get to work, you need the right type of sunscreen. It’s vital for the summer—but with all of the different brands and the various SPFs stamped on the bottles, how do know which is right for you?

I know what you are thinking: The higher the SPF, the more my skin is protected.

Not quite. Despite common belief, SPF 100 does not offer double the amount of UVB protection than SPF 50 does. According to the president of the AmericanAcademy of Dermatology, the higher and higher the SPF is, there is no real “practical difference.”

While there are all types of sunscreens on the market ranging from low-end to high-end, my go-to is Jack Black’s Sun Guard, coming in at a resounding SPF 45.

They Say: This vitamin-enriched, oil free, water- and sweat-resistant lotion offers superior broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection and absorbs quickly without greasy or leaving heavy residue.

We Say: Jack Black’s Sunscreen ($21) offers a cost-effective option when compared to other brands, with a good amount of SPF packed inside of it. The combination of the water-resistant, oil-free formula with the smooth texture works well with my skin. Hands down, it is one of the best sunscreen products I’ve come across in a while.

For a great price and a good quality product, why not invest in a bottle or two of Jack Black’s Sunscreen SPF 45? Pick it up here, or at your local grooming boutique.
