While the Great Jay Gatsby portrayed to be many things in his fictitious life, the one thing we was right about was repeating the past. The past always has a way of reinventing itself. If you observe everything regarding clothing, music, those retro sneakers, and uncalled for Hollywood reboots, the past always comes back around. Since its historic debut in 1935, the Jack Purcell sneaker has gone through only two revisions, and has become to be a fashion staple icon. Now the Converse brand is taking the classic sneaker and giving it an modernized upgrade. Converse launched the NEW Jack Purcell Signature sneaker, and while the appearance seems to be the same as the original at first glance, there are subtle yet noticeable details that are added to the sneaker. I was able to meet and speak with the Converse team for a brief history lesson and run through of details for the new classic.

At a price point of $95 Converse is now placing the classic sneaker in the “luxury” category of footwear. Given the new included technology and comfort, it does not seem unrealistic or unreasonable for consumers like myself to spend the extra money on quality, because at the end of the day quality over quantity is what really matters right?
