The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported, “A estimate of 1 in 88 children (11.3 per 1,000) has been identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).” Which is a 23% increase since their 2009 report. Autism is a disorder that can appear within 18 months of birth, but with early detection a child can receive the proper resources to live life as a “normal” kid. Maserati of Manhattan and Autism Speaks teamed up to host an event in order to raise awareness and unveil the latest 2014 Maserati Quattroporte. During the event we spoke with Maserati of Manhattan’s general owner, Michael Bellina, to get his thoughts on Autism, why early diagnosis of Autism is so important, and future plans for Maserati.

Why is Autism such an important cause to fight for ?

Corporate responsibility is very important now a days to the community. Are there any other charity initiatives Maserati works with?

Michael Bellina: Maserati is a very large company, each dealer is a franchise. Our dealer Group the experience auto group is involved with a number of charities. Both The Owner of our company and myself are cancer survivors so we are always open. After hurricane Sandy we raffled off a few weekends in Maserati’s to raise money for victims.

We love the unveiling of the new 2013 Maserati Quattroporte. Does Maserati have any more surprises for 2013?

Michael Bellina: Actually Next month at the Shanghai Auto show we are releasing the New Ghilbli it is an all new segment for us. It is a 4 door coupe that is going to start around 70k. It is the nicest car I have ever seen.
