When you first pick up most things suede your first thought isn’t always, “I don’t mind if this gets wet,” it is usually, “I have to make sure the sky is clear today in order for me to wear this.” Suede looks great for sure, but for us there is always a sense of paranoia and responsibility that comes with wearing it and from getting it wet. Until now. The direct-to-consumer shoe brand, Beckett Simonon just created what they call “the perfect bomber,” and from what we see it may actually live up to its name.
The Beckett Simonon team created an affordable and worry free suede bomber jacket that you can now wear with a sense of ease. Their “perfect bomer” debuted last week and is already creating some buzz within the menswear circuit. The slim cut, high arm hole jacket comes in two colorways: classic cognac brown and modern navy. The outer of the jacket is made with soft calf suede, lined with a cotton-linen fabric from breathability, and is handmade in Colombia by artisans who have years of experience in leathermaking, and offers a recipe for a great martini. While all of that is great (especially the martini recipe), the key feature that really makes the jacket stand out from the rest of the competitors is the waterproofing nanotechnology that the jacket is treated with.
What is Nanotechnology?
In a nutshell nanotechnology is, the manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular scale. What does this have to do with clothing? Well, most of waterproof, microbicidal, UV-blocking or antistatic clothing that we purchase is created with nanotechnology. So really, you’ve probably have been embracing the nanotechnology and didn’t even know it.
A classic leather or suede bomber is always a great staple piece to have in your closet, and for the price that is being offered how could you really say no? Granted we are currently transitioning into summer, but with fall/winter right behind it we are sure you will get plenty of wear out of it.
