On October 6, 2017, I had the pleasure of attending the apArt Private Gallery launched its First Ever NY Solo Art Exhibition “Terebintina” by Brazilian artist and former partner and president AlmapBBDO, Marcello Serpa at a private location on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
As a distinguished leader in exhibiting the works of emerging artists in Brazil and Colombia, apArt Private Gallery has now added New York as part of their artistic hub. Known for his prestigious work within the Advertising Industry, Marcello decided it was time to return to his passion since birth.
The opening night of the exhibition included 15 acrylics on canvas pieces and nearly 300 attendees. Guests ranged from local art galleries, top models, influencers, artists and many Brazilian acquaintances. Attendees enjoyed live paintings throughout the evening by Alex Korolkovas and Sal D’Angelo who provided samples of miniature turpentine bottles. I asked Marcello about the inspiration behind the bottles, and he replied, “I grew up smelling the oils of turpentine, creating paintings while I watched my grandfather, an artist from Pernambuco, Brazil, who had a very colorful soul.”
‘Terebintina’ is now open to the public until Dec 5, 2017, by appointment only. To schedule an appointment contact apart@apartprivategallery.com apArt, New York plans to hold their next exhibition early 2018.
