Here at Gents Among Men, we know you deserve better, which is why we are here to help. Assuming you are of drinking age, head over to your local Irish pub and order a cocktail that you will appreciate.
Here are two of our favorite cocktails to choose from:
Bushmills Red Bush: The Red Roy
Bushmills Red Roy speaks for itself in this twist on classic Rob Roy cocktail. Michael Collins was Ireland’s very own legendary figure as Rob Roy was to Scotland. The Michael Collins is the perfect holiday libation; classic and straightforward with an old-world elegance.
Ingredients:
- 3 oz. Bushmills Red Bush
- 4 dashes The Bitter Truth NUT Drops and Dashes (can be replaced with Fee Brothers Black Walnut Bitters)
- 1 sugar cube
Process:
- In a mixing glass add 1 cube sugar and 2 dashes of The Bitter Truth NUT Drops and a touch of soda
- Press all with a muddler
- Add Red Bush and stir
- Pour into a martini coup with no ice
- Garnish with orange peel
Bushmills Original: The Grafton Bramble
This cocktail draws inspiration from the old ladies in Ireland who would make their own jam and spoon it into teacups with gin over ice on Sunday when it was considered improper for ladies to drink alcohol. It is named Grafton Bramble after one of the most beautiful streets in Ireland that has been described as pure magic during the holiday season.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Bushmills Original
- 5 oz lemon juice
- 5 oz cane sugar syrup
- 1 bar spoon of your favorite berry-flavored jam
Process:
- Combine all the ingredients
- Shake well
- Double strain into a crystal rocks glass
- Serve over ice
- Garnish with a bar spoon full of jam
Lambay: The Lambay Selkie
Inspired by legends of swan maidens, mythological creatures found in Irish, Scottish and Faroese culture. Selkies are said to live as seals in the sea but shed their skin to become human on land. This cocktail transforms from one flavor to another, while keeping its original aroma.
Ingredients:
- 40ml Lambay Irish Whiskey Small Batch Blend
- 20ml St Germain Elderflower liqueur
- 20ml Lemon Juice
- 10ml Simple Syrup
- 5 drops Lavender Bitters
- Garnish: Mint Sprig
Method:
- Shake all ingredients with ice and strain over ice into a highball glass
- Top with soda
- Dust with powdered sugar
The Lambay Whiskey Sour
A classic yet straightforward twist on an old reliable for those magical evenings, Lambay Small Batch Blend adds a tender sweetness to this cocktail.
Ingredients:
- 50ml Lambay Irish Whiskey Small Batch Blend
- 25ml fresh lemon juice
- 15ml simple syrup
- 15ml egg white Orange bitters
Preparation
- Dry shake all ingredients without ice first
- Add ice and shake all ingredients again into an ice-filled rocks glass
- Garnish with Edible flowers
