Today marks National Tequila Day and what better way to celebrate than with a couple of summer approved cocktails? we partnered with Patrón to provide our readers with just that. If you are in the NYC area and decide to do a Tequila bar crawl we suggest you start at Middle Branch for their Mad Mango cocktail. The sweet and slight spicy cocktail created by Lucinda Sterling, Middle Branch (NYC) features Patron’s latest Citrónge Mango liqueur.
Mad Mango
1¼ oz Patrón Citrónge Mango
¾ oz Roca Patrón Silver
¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
¾ oz Simple Syrup
2 Full Drops Habanero Bitters
Club Soda or Seltzer
Pour the ingredients into a shaker, shake with ice to ensure coldness (but not to dilute), then strain into a Collins glass over ice. Add club soda or seltzer, and garnish with a mango spear and sliced bell pepper (or lime wedge if desired).
End your crawl and hang out a few at the Refinery Rooftop. It is a great location to soak in the view of the city and also a few drinks. We recommend the Rooftop Margarita. The light and refreshing cocktail created by Chris Byrne, Refinery Rooftop (NYC) taste can sneak up on you if you aren’t paying attention. So take it easy. Pair it with thin crust Margherita pizza, you won’t be disappointed or some summer time finger food.
Rooftop Margarita
2 oz Patrón Reposado
1 oz Patrón Citrónge Mango
1 oz Strawberry purée
½ oz Simple syrup
½ oz Lime juice
Add all ingredients to a rocks or Collins glass. Shake and strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a fresh strawberry if desired.
You can keep it traditional and enjoy a few margaritas, or expand your palate and try one of the recipes above. Say “Adidos” to your office and say “Hola” to a few delicious Patrón cocktails for National Tequila Day. Always remember to drink responsibly.
