You have you male-focused hair products, skincare creams and oils, and deodorants, but you still wash your clothes with Mountain Mist detergent. Two brothers decided men should finally have a detergent that reflects their masculinity.
Frey is the end result of a successful Kickstarter campaign started by brothers, Erin and Leif Frey. Their goal was simple, make a detergent that men would want to buy. Over the weekend I tested this “male-targeted” detergent. However, I wasn’t jumping at the chance to do so in the beginning. I am always apprehensive about “for men” products, due to my previous experiences of falling victim to the marketing ploy. Happy to say, FREY was the complete opposite. I was very pleased with the instant results.
I held a small focus group of 10 men and 10 women. 9 out of 10 men liked the fragrance as well the product design. However, 8 out of 10 women said they wouldn’t wash their clothes personally with FREY, but would love if their partner’s clothes smelled like the cologne-inspired Oak & Musk fragrance. The women also stated the colors on the bottle didn’t do anything for them. They were more attracted to brighter colors and images on other detergents because of the associated attached to the fragrance.
What makes FREY great doesn’t have anything to do with its masculine smell and eco-friendly approach, it’s their philanthropy work.
