#GentsUnited is a series created by Gents Among Men that is designed to highlight the various men and women who possess and display a creative sense of style and class. Here is David Reeves // @DavidReevesBespoke
What was or is your style influence?
When I was a teenager I was very much into modernist clothing especially the neatness and minimal nature of it. Like a lot of people interested in menswear I am also influenced by military styling and cuts which is not a million miles away from modernist style as they both emphasize clean lines and a discipline in regards to wearing clothes. I like a highly polished look in general, it looks like it takes a lot of effort and care but after a while it really just becomes second nature.
A gentleman is:
Someone with a sense of “fair play”.
What quote do you live by?:
“Impossible” is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools.” ― Napoléon Bonaparte
How does your environment affect your style?
Well I think it is always good to dress “appropriately” to some degree, that means I don’t wear three piece suits to the beach or a picnic. I’m not “that guy” who only wears suits, I will wear polo shirts and jeans on the weekend and look good in them. When I see new clients I don’t know who is going to walk through the door so I wear a very neutral “conservative” suit and tie. If I was invited to a wedding I would dress up but not go all out because that would be bad form. If I ever get that knighthood
What is your passion in life?
My work for sure, every suit I turn out I feel genuinely proud of.
