There comes a point in a man’s life when he has to give up his lovable briefs. If you remember, we mentioned this in our “30 Day Primer – Under Upgrade” last year. But if that still hasn’t encouraged you to update your underwear hopefully you will after reading this. Since our last primer a new player in the underwear game, Tommy John, has caught our attention. Established in 2008, the brand has been committed to resolving the discomfort men face with their undergarments. I recently had the opportunity to test out a unique pair called the 360 Sport Boxer Briefs.
When it comes down to underwear, I look for two things: fit and function. With the 360 Boxer Brief, I managed to find both. The 3-way stretch and “stay put” waistband gave me free range of motion while in the gym, allowing me to focus on my training versus any sagging or friction. Moisture-wicking and anti-odor technology is a staple in most men’s base layers and apparel, and the 360 Boxer Brief’s kept me really dry.
What attracted me the most to the gym-ready boxer brief was the utility pocket. You are probably wondering would you need a pocket on your underwear. I thought the same until the pocket came in handy while on the phone in bed and while running. The running shorts I had on didn’t have side pockets and I didn’t have anywhere to put my State ID and emergency cash, so the pocket on the briefs came in handy. Rather than going home to change my shorts, I just stashed everything right inside the pocket.
The 360 Boxer Briefs are not inexpensive ($34) however if you are looking for a high-end and functional pair of undergarments that will help you get through your workout, or look invisible under a pair of fitted dress slacks, then Tommy John is a very smart investment.
